because the scent of these lilies reminds me of everything good and hopeful in the world. A symbol of purity and majesty; to give these is to say that it has been heavenly being with you. xv
Thank you for the lilies! Vicki, is it possible you find lily-of-the-valley and post a picture of them on your blog? or maybe you already have them in your garden? they are very easy to grow (just make sure they're under a tree, in a shade) and they spread fast too. Irina
OMG...just found your blog and so happy I did. Our favorite place to be during the summers was the South of France. So much to take in and now I can do it vicariously through your blog! Love your photos and vivid imagery.
Oh you knew this post would melt my heart Vicki! MOTH's 'crop' in December/January was so prolific we were giving away huge armfuls to all our neighbours. Wish you lived closer, it would have given us both great pleasure dropping off these exquisite blooms for you to enjoy. Millie ^_^
I do love me a little Lily..but then you know that. I think I named her that for all the reasons you say you love lilies. And the peonies and Lilacs? Oh, so lovely. Someday I will again live where Lilacs blooms. The scent of them in the Spring time air is beyond wonderful.
Vicki - I love lilies - they are so dramatic and fill your house with such wonderful scent. I happen to love the dark color of the pollen on the ends of the stamen, and only snip them off when they are placed on or near something they will stain. You can just snip the ends off with scissors, or use a tissue to lightly dust them off.
Vicki ~ When I am reading your blog, I feel as if I am in holiday in France. I
LOVE lilies, so exotic and sweet. I grow Casablancas, which are about 8" tall now. In July they will be 6' tall and covered with white trumpets of intoxicating fragrance.... thanks for reminding of the magnificance of lilies.
Thank you for the lilies!
