Tulips and time wasted....

Do you ever have one of those days where you work all day and get nothing done?

Yesterday was my day like that. I had the bright and long overdue idea to give my blog a bit of a makeover - spruce her up a bit - change the images - play with the colours - you know, make it more interesting for my blogster pals. You may notice that today it is exactly the same as the day before and the day before that. The sidebar is the same - there are no compelling new features or clever cute clicks. Now that doesn't mean that I didn't move the photographs in the side bar and change them and it certainly doesn't mean I didn't wrack my brains for some scintillating new ideas to tempt you with; I played all day and all I could come up with were more flowers. I had flowers on my posts and flowers for my new posts and then I even put flowers on my sidebar - an explosion of blooms that was out of control. I am out of control...I mean, I love flowers but I have to stop - taking pictures of them, arranging them, posting them, buying them, giving them and dreaming of them. So I went back to square one, decided to leave well enough alone on the blog until my flower fetish recedes and some other infatuation claims my creative thoughts.

So I am back with tulips this time; I adore them all - each petal and every colour.
If perfect love is their meaning then they must be the perfect bloom, xv.

  5. Love your flower shots, Vicki. Hubby showed me the little flower thingo on the camera (macro) and I can now take brilliant shots of my roses!! I'm rapt!

Today I started my French lessons on the computer - you never know, we're visiting Italy again next year and just might pop over to Paris! LBx

    P.S. Flowers make everyone happy!

  6. I also have a flower thing. When I lived in Paris for three years as a graduate student, I had "my" florist, Thalie (in the 5ieme), that was close to the lab I did my research in. I would buy a round bouquet of flowers every week and strap them onto the back of my vintage dutch bicycle. Indeed, that was an expensive habit, but oh, the beauty!!! I couldn't resist.

  7. I know exactly what you mean. One day I spent hours on the computer and achieved nothing and to think that I used to work with computers for a living :-)

    J'aime vos fleurs......

  8. Tulips! Love!!!

Your blog is beautiful - no need to change (although I do miss the French post photo; maybe you changed that before?).

Beautiful story about the Amaryllis as well.

  11. This post got me thinking of the first flowers I ever received from a boy - pink tulips! They are so gorgeous! I think at the time I was just grateful they weren't carnations. Thanks for the memories...Tracey xx

  15. Awwwwww, it was sweet of you to lose a whole day, for us. :-) Not that you needed to. But, still sweet of you.

But as to lots of flowers... seems Spring is a lovely time for such a *fetish.* :-) Especially for those like me, who hardly see any flowers growing yet, in my area. Some of us are way behind you, in warmer climates.

Love, love, love the tulips you picture today. Especially in this color scheme.

  16. Vicki, trust your intuition...your never changing home page photo is comforting...you always have great photos underneath and even greater commentary!

  22. I have spent several days over the last few months trying to redesign my blog to no avail. I know what that lost day with nothing to show for it feels like which is why every time I think to go at it again, I don't. I guess I don't have a better new idea or even a clue as to what I want it to look like. So, it stays the same until the day it comes to me and I dive in and maybe come out at the other end with something to show.

Your blog is so elegant and lovely. It's hard to imagine it being any better.

Keep the flowers coming! You capture them so well with your camera. I feel as if I can actually smell them.

  26. There can be no such thing as too many flowers!
And by the way, almost every day I think I am going to accomplish far more than I do. That is par for the course. I am a dreamer!

  27. Every now & then I take a 'Planning Day' at work Vicki. I go into the zone & try & produce something awesome, but to this day, I've not produced a thing! However all is not wasted, as I firmly believe what goes on in my head gets stored for future reference & one day it will all come together & voila, I'll have created something amazing!

You just wait - I reckon that'll happen @ French Essence & one day I'll visit & you will have performed magic overnight!
