As I mentioned in my last post, one of my very favourite blooms is lilac, and it seems after reading your lovely comments that I am not the only one who loves lilac. I cut these early this morning and the fragrance is perfectly delicious - they are on the kitchen table and I can detect their scent even before I open the door to come inside.
Have a very happy weekend, xv.
I love lilac ! I love to make bouquets with them
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! We haven't had luck growing lilac in our garden. I would love to have bunches of lilac in every room.
ReplyDeleteI miss lilacs! They don't grow here, but we had lavender and white lilacs in my yard at home. They were planted in front of the kitchen and bedroom windows and in the spring when I would come home from school my mother would have the windows open and the entire house would smell of lilacs. What an aromatic weekend you will have!

You are so lucky they are blooming, mine (which I didn't even remember planting) are just starting to bud so for now I will just look at yours. Have a lilac-scented weekend!
ReplyDeleteI do wish we could grow them here. I'm afraid the heat and humidity of our summer does them in. I once stayed at a wonderful inn on the coast in Massachusetts in May where the grounds were covered with lilac in full bloom. Every evening a new bouquet would appear in our room. I was completely intoxicated.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and I agree with you about their heavenly scent!
ReplyDeleteBon Weekend!
OoooOOooo so beautiful, I wish I could stick my head through the screen and inhale that divine scent! Lovely, Vicki, just lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend, sweet one!

I can *almost* smell the lilacs in this gorgeous photo...
ReplyDeleteI can smell them just looking at your photograph.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely.
Oh Vicki! They are perfectly delicious, What beautiful colors! Enjoy their beauty as they freshen your day!

Lilacs are my favorite flower of all! I grew up literally surrounded by lilac bushes. For several years now we've lived in a tropical climate where lilacs will not grow, and I miss those fragrant blooms more than I can say. Lilac scented soaps & room sprays just can't compare.
ReplyDeleteOh...so beautiful. Lucky you having such wonderful blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThe house we're moving to has white and deep purple lilac in the garden, so next year I'll have that wonderful scent too.
Beautiful! Enjoy a great weekend with those fresh scents inside and out!
ReplyDeleteThe lilac is so beautiful. I can only hope that mine is big enough one day to have enough flowers to take inside!
ReplyDeleteIt must be divine... have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are splendid!
ReplyDeleteStunning image, amazing scent. Have a beautiful weekend Vicki. I'm on the couch painting my nails, getting ready for a weekend - it would be perfect if the girls were carrying lilac today! xx
ReplyDeleteI love it and wish perfumers would use it more!
ReplyDeleteEven better --- you can grow it!
This is my first season with a lilac and believe it or not I hadn't seen one up close until last year. I fell immediately in love, of course. I was then fortunate enough to find a tiny miserable one on clearance at the end of the season. I am happy to say that it is not tiny or miserable any longer and it makes me so happy.
ReplyDeleteLove Lilacs and their smell is incredible... oooooh this time of year is GRAND!
ReplyDeleteENJOY your weekend!

The scent of lilac is wonderful. Must buy one for my garden, but knowing what a black thumb I have I don't think I'll be able to manage such beautiful blooms as yours. I hope you enjoy this beautiful flower in your home over the next few days or so. Lee :)
ReplyDeleteI love lilac too..unfortunately my garden doesn't have one... yet...!! but my neighbour has one that overhangs my fence so hopefully I will still get the scent!!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that back in history they used to surround a body in the coffin with lilac blooms? Thats why they are considered unlucky to bring in the house in some cultures..I'll fill all my vases with them when I can!!
Love your blog.
kay
The scent of lilac puts me instantly back to being 7 years old in grandmother's backyard to the time that I first experienced it's intoxicating smell. Every year I vow to plant a bush in my yard...this will be the spring it happens- you've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteLilacs are a favorite at Linderhof -- a small bouquet can scent the whole downstairs. Alas, lilac time is too short!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have lilacs!!! The don't grow well in our area and the variety that does grow produces very small clusters of blossoms. When I saw the photo that you posted, for a brief moment I stopped to imagine the fragrance. Just Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLilacs are lovely. We have several bushes in our city house backyard and one huge tree at the farmhouse - can't wait for them to bloom.
ReplyDeletenot only do you live your dream but it smells wonderful too!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletelilacs are what heaven smells like.
(and france apparently)

These are gorgeous, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteOne of my splurges during the spring is to buy lilacs from the market. I have had absolutely no luck growing them here in California, but I couldn't imagine a Spring without them. Thank you for sharing your beauties!

How lovely!
ReplyDeleteOur lilac bush has not bloomed yet but I can not wait!
They are so fragrant and beautiful but so delicate they only last about a day.
You reminded me of my lilac bush we had before we moved...for 9 years it did not bloom...the year we moved it bloomed 1 stick of flowers, I cryed in the backyard, my husband said whats wrong...I said the bush is saying goodbye...
ReplyDeleteYour right everyone loves lilac's and yours are wonderful...enjoy your weekend Regards CAM
I love lilac. Wish I had some in my yard, but this city girl has none...Sounds like you'll have a wonderful weekend, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and for sharing,
Suzy
I clicked over from Southern Hospitality. So happy to be greeted by these beautiful lilacs. We had them at our farm, where we lived several years. I loved bringing bouquets into the house; Wonderful scent. We visited Mackinac Island Michigan, during the annual Lilac Festival a few years ago. Delightful!!
ReplyDeleteWe have Miss Kim Lilacs here at our new home(5 yrs). They are sweet, but my favorite remains, the old fashioned Lilac.
Wonderful blog!
I long to smell lilacs in person. They don't really grow here and I've never seen one blooming. It looks like it would be so fragrant and lovely. Enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteLilacs already! How lovely...
ReplyDeleteAlas, no peonies or lilacs in Florida and I miss them. I try to time my visits home to Canada to coincide with their bloom. Your blog is so interesting. What a wonderful life!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Sue.
Lilacs are so pretty and such a glorious scent. The white lilac always reminds me of my Great Aunt Judy, she had a wonderful white lilac bush.
ReplyDeleteAlison
You will smile, we went to our french friends house today and they suprised us with a huge bunch of purple and white lilacs. They survived the trip home as we took in a vide grenier on the way and my living room smells divine.

ps I love the lillies, every year I order potted white lillies for my Nana in New Zealand, those and moth orchids are her favourites :-)
I was amazed in Europe the beautiful selection of flowers and so well priced. In Queensland our hot climate limits our choice and they cost a fortune, thankfully we are getting more farmers markets making it so much more affordable. Beautiful post x
ReplyDeleteOh yes, lilacs! I love the fragrance and wore it, for years. Making a memory, for family, I hoped. And so nice to see that many others feel the same, about scent. :-)
ReplyDeleteBe grateful you can bring them into the house. We here, are allergic and can't have any real flowers, in the house. -sigh-
'Aunt Amelia'
Just catching up...looking at all the gorgeous blooms.
