What's in this bag?

Margie has asked me to participate in a bag challenge and that means showing you what is in my bag. Now that is one embarrassing question for an untidy bag girl like me..... I am turning it upside down, so here goes....

loose tissues (always clean though and if I told a little fib I would have said a monogrammed linen hankie)
hair clip - black with big teeth because I always need to clip up my hair
jasmine tea - two teabags in case I cannot have a green tea when I feel the need
fisherman's friend cough lozenges - love their fiery taste
grey leather gloves- it is freezing here
mascara - the best ever called Longcils Boncza (some unknown and inexpensive French band I picked up in my local pharmacy)
nail file - for my non existant nails that have been lost to the olive harvest and have still not visited the manicurist
eye mask - cannot sleep with out it and always carry a spare, compliments of British Airways (my husband, Mr Frequent Flyer saves them for me)
Quies - French earplugs ( the best after the Italian ones), I am not quite sure why they are in my bag..
old passport pictures of my gorgeous children
Easyjet boarding pass
Blackberry - I admit it, my lifeline
sunglassses from Moscot - very retro Rayban style that my husband gave me last year
three lipsticks - Del Rio and Lustre from Mac and Royal Plum from Laura Mercier
eye liner pencil - I am always in a hurry and in need of attention
silver wallet - I don't think I should go into how much stuff is jammed into that (and I don't mean the useful kind of notes..)
black wallet - same as the silver wallet
three Uni-Ball pens - all black tipped and roll just the right way
keys - French keys and London keys
two hair elastics
reading glasses and a cloth to clean them (lost without these)
loose change - euros and sterling
receipts - too many and they should be properly filed
train ticket from the Gatwick express
my passport - second lifeline after the bb
Nikon Cool Pix camera - third lifeline
The Tudors - season 2, the last disc
and I just found another
Viva Glam lipstick from Mac and two more hair clips

Ok, I know what you are thinking - and yes, it does all fit and yes, it is the truth, cross my heart (I know, because I have just picked this mess back up off the floor, and shoved it back in my bag).

This is the last weekend before Christmas - have a very happy and festive one,  xv.

  1. I loved your post. I would be afraid to turn my purse upside down and then share the contents. We just got lights back on after the ice we got last night. It's a winter wonderland out there. Thanks for swinging by the sunporch. I hope to see you again soon. Have a super w/k...hugs ~lynne~

  3. I love this post Vicki! You have quite the Mary Poppins bag full of interesting and very necessary things (eye cream, tea, passport - you never know when a girl might need these things). My bag would have diapers, wipes, half eaten suckers, and and well atleast some lipgloss and my iphone.. I have to maintain a little bit of adult fun in the mix!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
    xx Trina

  6. Well, let me say that my bag is probably worse than yours!! I love carrying those shoulder bags that have no compartments...so everything... and I mean everything is at the bottom of my purse from unused cough drops and kleenex,to lipsticks, keychain, and wallet....need I go on...
HOHOHO, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Vicki
P.S. My purse is so heavy that if I were to use it as a weapon it might actually hurt someone!!!

  8. Tote bags rule .. . Especially that gorgeous red Goyard! I like the fact that you had not one , but two wallets. It sounds as if you are ever ready to hop a plane or train.
    Have a lovely holiday, Vicki ... . .

  11. It's amazing what actually fits into our bags, the worst part is taking it all out to look for something and trying to get it back in there!!! Wishing you and your family a beautiful Christmas and a wonderful New Year...Dzintra

  13. Delightful post dear Vicki! Trina's comments took me back 22 years to that day of great libertation when after all those babies I walked out the front door with just my handbag & no DIAPER BAG!

And like Tres Belle, my current handbag is so full MOTH always says he fells safe with it around as with one good swing it would kill a mugger instantly!

  14. Oh that's fabulous! I bet a lot of women would have a very similar stash! I too carry the old Fisherman's Friends and ear plugs! You must have a fabulously large bag. What's the secret to actually finding what you are looking for? I am forever turning my bag upside down and doing the 'big dump' in stores in frustration when I can't find something. A-M xx

  16. I used to love those magazines in the eighties with celebrities in shoots featuring what was in their bag. No doubt very highly staged for the shoot. I am at an in-between stage at the moment with bags as I am moving from a large nappy bag to the world of handbags. However, I still carry baby wipes, spare knickers for my daughter, breath mints, about three lipsticks, (Mac Russian Red. Christian Dior Premiere and a Chi Chi pale pink. Half a dozen pens, lots of unfiled receipts. A mystery is why I can never find my mobile when it rings in my bag!

  18. Interesting...
The Tudors - season 2,is coming out Jan 6 in the US...we have to wait a bit, but what do you do with that in your bag?
Can you watch it on an i-phone?
    And no books???
I can not leave the house without a book or two and a few magazines for stuck subways or just in case.
Why don't I have those ear plus?
Lots of good beauty tips lurking in your bag!
    Merci

  20. Carol, I always travel with my computer and because I commute between Marseille and London a couple of times a month I will watch an episode on my laptop. Normally I have a book too but for some reason when I wrote the post it wasn't in there...xv

  23. I've got a Nicon Coolpix too =) Besides that, don't be ashamed of the content in your handbag, I think it all sounds very useful. I've been known to carry half a loaf of bread in my handbag (student years)...

Thank you for your nice comments on my blog. Have an absolutely lovely Christmas, Vicki!

  27. Hi Vicki, Thank you for taking up the challenge and as usual with your posts you did it with style and panache. I loved reading what was in your bag. It is amazing what our bags can hold, and how much they say about us. hugs Margie.

  28. Hi Vicki, Reading your post I giggled several times because I also have a tote full of surprises. My 12 year old son has asked me why I carry 2 pairs of sunglasses or hand sanitizer and hand wipes? My bag is hopeless. I have to get accustomed to the idea that I no longer have little ones.
    Thanks for a fun post!

BTW, thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday!

    Happy Holidays!

  34. Vicki, my first post here! Your bravery gave me the confidence to come out of hiding. :)
My bag is a little old leather doctor-looking handbag (Valenti Collection), which I love!
I only ever carry the bare minimum and have reduced it to:
    Red Molskine Diary
Basic Nokia mobile phone with no bells and whistles - perfect! :)
    Leica C-Lux 2 digi camera
Grey purse, which I can never close because it's jam packed with nothing useful
    Uni-ball micro deluxe waterproof pen
    Pencil
Being a photographer - I always have a couple of spare rolls of 35mm film for my M6 camera that's always with me, but doesn't fit in the bag. The digi camera barely sees daylight.
    Hairbrush, clip and lacky band
    Chanel No.5
    The Body Shop lipstick
    Small pack of tissues
