Valentines Day may be over for another year, the blooms wilting and the colours faded but that doesn't mean that we should forget about flowers... Flowers have always made me happy. One bloom, two blooms three blooms more... I love all of them and if I was guilty of one extravagance... it would be flowers. I feel as if our home is undressed without flowers... even if it is one stem in a bud vase on a mantle or a stash of greenery in a tin cache pot in the kitchen... nature, however simple, adds life and a loving touch to decor.
Flowers aren't just for special occasions... to be plonked in a vase on a table... Flowers are for the every day and need to be prepared and arranged if they are to give of their best... I often buy myself a bunch if I am feeling in need of a pick me up... a little like a new lipstick... both small gestures but massively successful when it comes to the feel good factor...
I didn't intend to chat about flowers today but what does it matter... all else can wait... I am so in the mood because my DD is coming home after a long absence... sadly just for a few days as she works overseas now... but as you would understand this calls for a celebration... and flowers are just the thing... plus much hugging and catching up... Flowers and reunions... a winning combination... xv
See how I will be arranging my flowers... here...
Where I find my floral inspiration... here...
A necessity for me!
ReplyDeleteEvery room, every vase, every week.
Wishing you a lovely day.
Me? I'm off to bed.
How lovely that your daughter is coming home. I hope you have a beautiful time. I've had flowers on my mind all day, too and was actually just going through all my Paris flower photos from trips past. Couldn't agree more that flowers aren't just for special occasions - although having family together after a long absence certainly is one! Enjoy!! XO Jeanne
ReplyDeleteHow nice... You are right, fresh flowers are for all kinds of small celebrations and are the best pick me up. Enjoy every moment with your daughter. Thank you for the bright morning inspiration! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning flowers! I often treat myself to a beautiful bunch of flowers when my day needs a bit of a lift. I've been saving money since moving to Mlebourne though as I have been enjoying just walking out into the garden and picking some!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the precious time with your daughter. May you create some lovely memoires to last until you next get back together.

We have enjoyed a stunning rose garden here in Tasmania this summer. I have so enjoyed arranging roses. Getting ready for leaves of autumn.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I'm buying Lillie's.
Enjoy your daughters homecoming.

I just love finding such vivid colours in mid winter. A local producteur in Uzès selling them in bunches of individual colours too. So you can go all fuschia for example. Love them
ReplyDeleteBeautiful that your daughter us coming home.
ReplyDeleteMy two wishes if I ever get money...fresh flowers all the time and a personal masseuse...sigh
ReplyDeleteVisiting Paris for the first time in May....first mission... buy flowers for the apartment.

I am so thrilled for you Vicki. I am in the States right now visiting my Mom and Sister--yes, I was welcomed with flowers, a bouquet of roses in the guest room and a giant bouquet on the table. It makes me feel just as special as their hugs and love. I know you that you will make the most of this time...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, even when I have really been wanting financially, a flower or flowers has always been a top priority--even if that meant eating lots of soup! A bit of beauty goes a long way...
Oh my, I typed out a long comment but it was whisked away to the netherworld! Just to say how thrilled I am for you, Vicki. I am visiting my Mom and Sister in the States and it feels like Heaven! And yes, I was welcomed with the most wonderful flowers...
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting that your daughter will be home!! I love flowers! And the colors of the flowers in your picture are gorgeous!!

Ah flowers. I think I need a bunch to brighten up this gray, grim day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! If I have fresh flowers in my house, I have to have them in my bedroom (with the door closed) because otherwise my darling little sweet kitties would eat them. Yep, eat them. Like they don't get enough cat chow and treats and toys and catnip, they have to eat my flowers. Oh, my glamorous life...
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasure for the eye! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAhhh the DD + flowers, the perfect combination. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

Lovely post about flowers and daughter - I've been trying to force anemones all winter but I have only a few skinny stalks that flop over. Sign!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure with your attention to detail and loving heart you'll have a wonderful time with your DD.
Bravo! Bravo! My second glorious obsession is FLOWERS. Have you seen the flowers at George V by Jeff Leatham?......innovative, breathtaking and always displayed with the WOW factor.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Vicki
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling well - it's the best feeling when DD comes home!!!
My whole persona changes and I come alive again when my daughter visits from France...
Part of the excitement is the planning and preparation of the house for such an important visitor!
Enjoy your bliss dear friend.

Dear Vicki,
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year for flowers ..... well, I love everytime of year for flowers but February says anemones, snowdrops and violets. Beautiful.
Have a wonderful time with your daughter Vicki and enjoy every moment. XXXX
Flowers are always a welcome topic and I can't wait to see flowers in the neighborhood...here in Southern California, U.S. spring is in the air.
ReplyDeleteI love the anemones.

I've been so desperate in the dead of Winter here Vicki, I've even eyed off the sour sobs in desperation for some floral relief in the house! Enjoy your precious time with Miss DD, I'll be doing the same this weekend. Son #3 is dashing over from Melbourne for 1.5 quick days to party hard at the engagement party of an old school chum. I'm desperate for some quality Mother & Son hug time, bring it on.

If I had to choose one thing to bring home to make everything feel better, I'd choose flowers. And your photo is gorgeous, Vicki ~ so lavish.
ReplyDeleteFlowers are a priority in my life...along with books. Home isn't home for me if not filled with both...and maybe a little chocolate!
ReplyDeleteEmily
I will spend my last dime on flowers! Well maybe not, but still. Flowers are a must.
ReplyDeleteTheres nothing more uplifting than the sight of a beautiful bunch of frothy, papery Anemones on a Thursday morning in February, wonderful!
ReplyDeletePaul
I guess all us girls thrive with beautiful blossoms surrounding us. Even one stem makes me smile when I see it throughout the day. And, all those flower books are heaven. I think I have most of the ones you've shown. Sending love, Vicki....
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, I love Anemones. x
