Springtime in Provence is heavenly... and it is quite possibly my favourite season. Although I do say that about every season... My friend Kit of the lovely blog Chic Provence is arranging another tour to Provence this spring... it sounds wonderful and the itinerary reads like the perfect way to spend time in Provence...
Friday... arrive from Paris and settle into a gorgeous villa in the Provencal countryside...
Saturday... the market in Apt and a tour of one of the oldest villages in the Luberon.. Oppede Le Vieux...
Sunday... L'Isle sur la Sorgue... one of the best flea markets in Provence... (and where I always find something fabulous to tempt me)...
Monday... Gordes and Roussillon... picturesque hilltop villages made famous by Peter Mayle in his very entertaining books...
Tuesday... Avignon and history ( great shopping too)...
Wednesday... St Remy de Provence market... my village... so look out for me..
Thursday... Mt Ventoux on bikes (electric which helps...) Another breathtaking area of Provence...
Friday... Back on the train and home... or a stay over in Paris... That could be an idea...
Kit this sounds so much fun, can I come?
Reading about Provence is something I spend a lot of time on... so... if you are in the mood I recommend this for facts, this for sentiment and this because it's pretty and one of my favourites... And if you are not too tired of what I have to say about Provence there is always this and this...
i'l have that as my itinerary thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIt does sounds like fun! all my favorite towns in Provence. My parents will be meeting me in Avignon for the deballage in the next couple of weeks . We will be staying at Hotel d"Europe in Avignon, my favorite winter spot as my usual places to stay are all closed at that time of the year. I need to work out an itinerary for them...
ReplyDeleteI almost had a hard time reading through the iternary because the temptation to go is that strong! How perfect! What a beautiful week that would be......and that picture of yours is breathtaking.....
ReplyDeleteOh the trip sounds divine! I am angling for a trip to France this year. I am hoping (fingers crossed) to come in September for Maison et Objet - perhaps I could wrangle a side trip to Provence - wouldn't that be lovely!!
ReplyDeleteJust what was needed on a cold New York morning... thanks for brightening it up!
ReplyDeletethink I have seen all the places you mention which only makes me want to come back asap for another tour just like this one !!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is absolutely lovely, Vicki. Kit's playcay for the girls is going to be so much fun, but I do not see how I could miss the waters of the Cote d'Azur if I were so nearby. I'm about to do a post on wonderful restaurants in that area, along with a couple of cute stories (true ones). And, I'm making a list of my fantasy guests for the coming BIO post...PLUS PACKING CHINA & CRYSTAL I'M SO TIRED I THINK I AM ABOUT COMATOSE.

ReplyDeleteYou have the most beautiful garden. I love everything about spring, although the most dreaded season for me follows. I need to get ready to plant some seeds now.
Have a nice weekend.

writing from the little state of Rhode Island, USA....i can't say enough about how much i love, love, love your site. as one who traveled to france only once in her life, your posts and pictures bring me back almost 15 years. someone says "french" and we equate that as "romance"...my dream is to travel to provence some day and your posts encourage me every day to keep that dream alive!
ReplyDeletethank you for reaching out across the waters because someone over here just loves what you have to say! thank you!
Oh you're killing me in NY -actually in New Jersey but within a sight of NY and we're due for our first snow-ice-rain-snow routine. Spring in provence, anytime in Provence or for that matter any time any place in France. J'aime tout.
ReplyDeleteSounds like heaven! I could use a little spring - our wacky winter storm is getting a bit old. Springtime in Provence sounds just perfect.

Je suis une grande amoureuse de la Provence et particulièrement de ces merveilleux lieux que vous énumérez... Je ne manquerais rien au monde chaque année que d'aller m'y ressourcer... Dommage que le vent y est trop souvent présent...
ReplyDeleteGros bisous

Well, truly that is an outstanding plan, much like one that I would suggest myself save why, oh why isn't...Arles...on there as well? *sniff, sniff*
ReplyDeleteI'd love to come! I so need a dose of Provence. The rain here just doesn't seem to quit.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if she's arranging a tour for the fall, perhaps?
I can certainly endorse this tour of Provence - I keep returning to these very places which will be visited.
ReplyDeleteOff to check out Kit's Chic Provence now!
Warm wishes.
MOTH here Vicki. Can I lob at your place while Mills takes off on this tour. Is Mr. FF's supply of Coopers topped up & the DVD of last year's AFL Grand Final ready to roll?
ReplyDeleteThanks in anticipation.
Oh Vicki. If only. *Sigh*. My time will come - eventually! J x
