From where I am sitting there are only 58 days left until Christmas...exciting, if not a scary thought....I feel certain that... unlike me... you have already started your preparations...figured out your holiday schemes, thought about the menu and started shopping....Not me....I am still trying to decide on what colours I want to go with this year.... I love, love the decorating side of Christmas and try and have a different, if not familiar, colour scheme each year.... I am probably overly obsessed with every aspect of the embellishing but I do enjoy to co-odinate my home so that all the bits and pieces are simpatico....
I haven't decided yet on the colour....last year's silver, white and glass mix was beautiful and I am tempted to repeat that one ...it would be easy....but then... the year before... when I went all out with the red and the violet... that was pretty gorgeous too...And right now...I am thinking that these pink baubles I snapped on a recent visit to London could be extra pretty....Picture the gift wrapping extravaganza I could have with those shades....Sande...what do you think?
What I am going to do...to make me focus on the festivities ahead...is start compiling a Christmas wish list for SHOP FRENCH ESSENCE with loads of suggestions for the BFFs in your life...and for the Santa stockings....I still make these for my children every year even though they are well and truly grown up.... Christmas would not be Christmas without them.... So if you need a little inspiration....take a look in the coming weeks...
Are you way ahead on the preparations or are you, like me, still thinking Christmas is a far away place?...xv

I am not as prepared as last year when I did tradition red green and gold, but when I saw your white and silver last year I thought that in 2011 I would copy you. Now you have reminded me how close it is,I'm not sure. I do love that pink in your pic,so now I'm very confused. Will keep visiting to see what you do. I did hang baubles from the chandelier which I think you did last year and loved that. oh well we will see. x
ReplyDeleteOh Vicki,
ReplyDeleteSanta stockings are a must. He still comes to visit all of us and leaves some nice little goodies, even though our children and their partners are in their early 30's, we still all believe. .....and why wouldn't we.....we all know that Father Christmas is real.
I'm looking forward to your Shop French Essence for Christmas as any suggestions will be most helpful. XXXX
Oh Dear... you are so right, Christmas is around the corner. I will be following your inspirations. Our family will stay put in Connecticut this Christmas, a quiet Christmas at home with close friends as I cancelled our travel plans. I feel I have been in a whirlwind and off to France on Monday. I am looking forward for a few quiet reflective moments. As you, I love bringing a little magic into our house during the Holidays, however I may be faithful to my all white Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteThe convenience of Shop French Essence is going to leave me with so much more time to decorate! I might actually look forward to the season this year....I'm off to check on the baubles.

Hi Vicki, I have barely given Christmas a thought....and I need to start shopping pretty soon. I hope that you are going to be posting all of your preparations for the holidays. But you haven't mentioned the harvest yet; so I guess that is coming up pretty soon. Be well. Mary
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki---I just noticed the new header...I love it. I would love one in my kitchen. Mary
ReplyDeleteOh my, I don't even know what country I am going to be in for Christmas yet!
ReplyDeleteAnd as faulty as my memory is, I remember how beautiful your decorations from last year were very well...can't wait to see what you come up with...
Goodness, I am far behind when it comes to shopping for Christmas and decorating. I better start thinking about this seriously! But your blog is so inspirational. Can't wait to see the colours you choose.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for a little Christmas inspiration -- love how you build you scheme around a color. I was just chatting with Pam at Red Ticking about her Christmas wares, which arrive in store in just a couple weeks! I know we haven't even gotten to Halloween, but it will be time to deck the halls before we know it!
ReplyDeleteI've been playing Christmas music on the harp for a couple of weeks now, so I'm getting in the spirit! My big holiday concert is November 26th, and I've been busy getting the music and the details for that set.
ReplyDeleteHoliday decorating often gets pushed aside for me. I haven't had the time with my performance schedule to decorate a Christmas tree or anythng else in my house for the past few years. So I'll just have to live a beautifully decorated holiday vicariously through your blog! (LOVE the idea of pink - go for it!)
Is Christmas almost here? Oh Dear, yes! Some shops in LA already have christmas decorations up. Holiday goodies coming in the shop everyday by post. First a trip to UK with client, then Christmas. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteI just love that you have "opened shoppe"! Fabulous, fabulous!!! These pinks are just divine...can't wait to see what you decide on ~

ReplyDeleteomg.....

Hi Vicki, don't worry, I am in your boat completely! Have not started yet but in love with the decorating side of things...I am thinking earthy tones myself this year, but I admire the colour of those baubles you found in London. I will keep my eye on you over coming weeks to see what you come up with. Have a great weekend, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI just KNEW you'd kick us off to a stylish start! This is the first Christmas related post I've read anywhere this year. What a great way to start. My theme this year will be "indestructible". Last year my urban terrorists masquerading as toddlers managed to drop and destroy nearly all my glass baubles. This year, I'm thinking....burlap....ribbons...industrial strength reinforced steel ornaments. I'll try and pass it off as "industrial chic". Meredy xo
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteI did have a laugh reading your post, I theme my look every year too and this year i'm doing hot pink and navy blue, last year I did all white, silver and antique deco's, this year i'm looking for colour, so I just want to reach into your post and buy all those decorations now!!!! love the coral pink colour too!! Cant wait to see your shopping ideas x
christmas is just around the corner! so excited!:D
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, I thought I was being premature getting some of my present shopping done this week but now I am glad as I didn't realise its so close. I love decorating for xmas too and like to go for the really deep antique reds, blues, golds and some greens. I also have lots of glass and silver. It all goes because of the style and I love the fact that my children and I can reminise each year as we have collected decorations on trips and had some as gifts. I am soo excited to have come across the most stunning puppet theatre for my 7yr old that is painted by Nathalie Lete (France) purchased here in Australia near where I live in this great toy shop. All I can say is wish I was small enough to play with it! It is just devine! xCorrina.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have been in Christmas land for a while now! Smiling, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm going with copper and red this year. With fir trees and cinnamon. Very medieval!
I'm so excited about your shop! I love the sunflower and shell ornaments! I've filled up my cart.
ReplyDeleteoh they are just fab decorations! your site is beautiful

Good Morning Vickie,
ReplyDeleteAhh....Christmas,a feeling deep in the soul, the smell of winter greens and the clarity of fresh falling snow. During summer holiday, visions of Christmas start with a seed of inspiration. This year it is raspberries(a symbol of kindness)& lime green. Wrapping paper, ribbons, frosted ornaments in raspberry & green, pearls, crystals, frosted branches from the woods & apples, pears and berries. Such a vision to share with seeds of kindness. Merry Christmas.....Donnalee
