Jingle, jangle I love a bangle....

Ever since I can remember I have been one of those girls who loves a bit of jingle jangle on her arm. I adore the tinkling sounds as metal bangles clink together and I love the deeper tones when wooden bracelets move up and down the arm with my movements. I am prone to wearing many bracelets on my right arm or pairs of bracelets, like cuffs. Silver, gold, pearls , diamontes, wooden or plastic - I love them all.

I am a big fan of the blog This is Glamorous and when I saw the Maya and Ruhi bangle featured I just had to leave a comment saying how gorgeous I thought it was. Guess what? I won this beautiful hand made purple agate bracelet in the giveaway. It is a cuff bracelet and truthfully, it hasn't left my wrist since it arrived (except for this morning's photograph) and I just love it.

I am a bracelet kind of girl as opposed to a necklace kind of girl and I am an earring kind of girl compared to a ring kind of girl. (Although I do have the occasional hankering for the big cocktail ring.) I am happy wearing as many bracelets together as possible and I am happy wearing the longest dangliest earrings I can find but I can't seem to bring myself to wear them together. This is one of my little foibles; I think jewellery like clothing needs to be carefully put together and pieces shouldn't conflict with each other. If I wear drop earrings I tend to leave my wrists bear and if I am having a jingle jangle moment I either loose the earrings or wear something very simple. If I can possible bare to draw attention to my less than perfect nails then the 'big' ring must do all the decorative work alone.

Earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces - one, some, many or the lot....do tell? xv

  2. i love earrings, wear them almost everyday. Rings are my least favorite, the only thing i wear on my finger is my engagement ring. I do agree though, only one feature should be accessorized, more than one would be heavy and chunky

  3. I'm really flexible with my accessories-- more for an overall effect than any set pattern. My problem with bangles is their practicality, esp since I'm small wristed. When speaking to someone while a chunky bangle, I gestured wildly and threw the darn thing across the room. I suppose you could say that my only fashion rule is that my accessories should not be used as weaponry.

  5. lucky you! very nice bracelet.
for my part I am as you, a bracelet and earring girl, though I like a pretty "collier" too, but no rings! mostly I like my jewellery big and chunky, no dainty chains or little earstuds for me.

  6. Hmmmm yes i'm a one or the other type of girl.

I often forget to take off my jingling jewelry in yoga - oops!

  7. I used to love jingle jangle bangle, rings, ear-rings the lot. Since having my daughter, I seem to have stopped wearing everything. It was a slow progression because she would pull on things and try to bite them. I must get some of them out again. I am in love with the idea of creating a charm bangle for myself.

  13. oooh, lucky girl! love your new bracelet.
I too adore many bracelets on the arm. not much of an earring girl (they get caught in my curly hair)
    but rings! sigh, love them!!!!

  14. I love bracelets too. I have piles of them and often bring back at least one when I travel.
I carefully "curate" my pieces when I dress and find bracelets go with everything. I like necklaces too but they seem to get less wear.
Love your new bracelet. You are a lucky girl!

  16. I love all jewellery. I am literally like a little (well curvy) human magpie. It makes no difference if it's accessorize or Tiffany, I am as enraptured- and I have a special love for anything vaguley exotic.

    Elizabeth Taylor is my hero!

  17. I love bracelets, too. My all time favorite is a button bracelet made by my husband's grandmother. She, a poet not a domestic goddess, loved to make these things.

  18. Oh I just love it when I meet a kindred spirit!! I am so bracelets and earrings...I love looking at necklaces and rings but my fingers are not meant for rings (which is just as well I don't crave rings!) and for some reason I just always grab the bracelets and earrings -- I feel naked without them. The more bracelets the better. LOVE the cuff that you won...how amazing is that???

I used to wear tons of bracelets, my ring and some necklaces...now it is just earrings...need to find my bracelets!

  22. i'm huge on balance with jewelery (congrats on your win btw). if i wear something chunky i won't wear any other piece. i don't like a lot, but what i do wear i want to have presence.

  23. I love earrings and a small necklace, but have a real watch fetish! Congrats on your win - lovely!

  24. the bracelet is gorgeous! I love all kinds of jewelry, but don't wear much often.

I have a Tiffany ID bracelet, my engagement ring, and two rings (that I altrerate) for my other hand.

I have a few necklaces, but don't wear them often.

  28. I am a charm bracelet kind of girl. If I don't feel particularly charming then I go for a statement necklace. Earrings are never high on the order of accessory operations as I have a lot of hair and most of the time my earrings go unnoticed.

  29. I completely agree about finding the right balance. I wear my wedding rings every day as I absolutely adore them. I am trying to find my "inner jewelry self" but have yet to do so. Maybe I need to try a bit of jingle jangle...

  30. Well done! That bracelet is gorgeous. I share your love for bracelets. Like you, I love the feel of them on my arm, especially in summertime. And earrings are a must have. Here's a secret...I never had my ears pierced. Just never liked the idea of holes in my lobes! So, I have a wondrous collection of antique earrings that I simply adore. Yes, you're correct...I am no doubt an eccentric!

  31. Jingle jangle I love bangles too! They are always so fun and stylish~ Thanks for the fun post!I am loving quartz bangles these days~

  32. I love bangles, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings... I have problems! I too cannot do the long earrings with a bangle. I wear mostly earrings and rings because they are simpler to match but love necklaces and others too...Enjoy your beautiful bangles...

  33. I also love earrings. The other jewelry is hard for me. But your 'jingle jangle' photo makes me want to give bracelets another try! ;~) I have one that is a fork (the tongs beautifully arranged in curlicues and the handle bent around the wrist with a clasp in the middle that lets it open and close!Made by an artist who does all silverware jewelry.)
    Have a fabulous day!

  35. YAY for the bangles! I too have been into stacking bangles. Recently a bought a set of seven 14 k bangles that I've been staring at on my arm. They are not super thick, but really charming. I would love to add more, but $$$ for gold.

I am allergic to metal and can't wear any type of earrings so that is out. And, unfortunately can't wear any plated jewelry. Too bad, since there is some fun costume out there!

I LOVE big, bold statement jewelry like chunky rings or pendants. Just as you mentioned, if I wear a chunky ring or bracelet, I forgo the chunky necklace!

    ReplyDelete
  36. bracelets (noisy ones!) or necklaces, but rarely rings and never earrings. (I get a reaction fron earrings...it's an ugly thing).....although around the house, I wear no jewelry at all.

  37. I never take my rings off. And I allllways forget to put earrings in. I've just started wearing loooooong necklaces. :)

  40. Hi Vicky,

while I was reading I thought you were perfectly describing my passion for jewels. Bracelet and earrings are my favorites but I wear necklace too. I have just two rings that I wear averyday: my parents'gift and they mean a lot to me.
I like gipsy jewls and the contrast between them and my dresses, clean and feminine. I adore my new long silver necklaces or my jingle jangle bracelet. For summer I become crazy about them. My last purchase is a "forever" necklace. I wear them at the beach too...
I an't stop to thank you for your comment, for considering me, for your advises, for what you write...Always perfect!

  44. I am a pure minimalist when it comes to jewellry, I don`t even wear my wedding band. I am not sure why as I have some gorgeous jewellry, it just isn`t my thing.

  45. I love necklaces. Big chunky quirky ones too.

  46. Wouldn't be caught without earrings! I've loved them ever since I got my ears pierced at 13! I only wear my wedding rings. And I do love bracelets, and like you wear them in multiples. My favorites are a collection of Mexican jade and sterling. The original one was given to my mother by my father after WWII.
I agree, as with design it's edit, edit, edit!!

  51. I remember when you won...
Im a bangle girl to. When we lived in AFrica as child the native women wore stacks upon stacks & it my 8 year old heart like lightning & firmly remains stuck as my jewelry love.
Enjoy the bangle I still covet :)

  52. I'm with you Vicki. One big show of bling bling on my body at a time!

  53. What a fun post! I wonder why we develop the "rules" that we do about jewelry.

Your new bracelet is lovely, first of all.

When I wore braces as a teenager, I didn't think I could wear gold jewelry because it would clash with the silver. Now that I have glasses, I think I can't wear dangly earrings because...I don't know why.

I do feel that glasses, earrings, and necklace are just too much around my face. So--two things max at that end of the canvas.

I also adore bracelets, preferably a lot of mismatched ones all together, and, like you, I don't go much for rings.

While I don't care for matching sets of jewelry, I also think it has to go together in mood or tone or something.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Haha....I'm completely the opposite: necklaces and rings are my addiction!! I like the title of the blog mentioned before, so I'll go and have a look right now.

  56. In my minds eye I wear them all. Is sure do collect them. But it seems I stay true to an oversize antique heart locket around my neck almost every day and a simple pair of earrings. LOVE jewelry. I need to vary more.

  57. Congratulations Vicki...your win is gorgeous. It's more bangles and bracelets for me. A great post♥x

  62. I love them all, but earrings are about the only thing I wear daily.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I rarely wear bracelets as they would keep hitting the keyboard at work. Necklaces get in the way too and I lose earrings easily. I am officially useless at accessories. I wear my wedding, engagement and eternity rings all the time. They're not accessories, but rather my necessaries.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I am a jingle jangle girl too, as well as more often a bracelet than necklace gal and an earrings more than rings girl too. I do love them all, but bracelets and earrings comprise the majority of my jewelry collection. And your Maya and Ruhi bangle is gorgeous! What a lucky lady to have won!

    ReplyDelete
  65. You are definitely asking the wrong lady! I love anything..especially the vintage kind and will usually stick to bracelets and earrings...even though I sell mostly antique necklaces..go figure!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Vicki - you & that gorgeous Maya & Ruhi bracelet were just meant for each other!

My engagement ring from MOTH was very wide & so I decided to use it as a wedding ring as well. But on the day, he surprised me with the most amazing heavy antique rose gold bracelet as a 'wedding ring'! I wear it with lots of gold bangles & drive everyone crazy with their constant clinking & clanking. The kids always said that the noise made for a good foreward warning system that I was heading their way, so those beauties have 'saved' them a heap of trouble on a number of occasions. Talking about stashing the evidence!

  67. what a great surprise, love a bangle too though this is a new thing for me, I am not big on jewellery and had never before experienced the whole jingle thing...now I feel I am undressed without them on there when I go out

strange really how one changes...I like the way bangles let you dress up without, looking, you know a bit as my mum would say 'common' haha

I tend to be the same...either bracelets or dangling earrings(well the ones I change anyway). It's rare I wear a necklace, though I do on occasion, and now I have only a couple of rings on, my grandmothers engagement ring, and a silver ring my husband bought me, with the wheel of life on it...

  71. When I stop byt the pic , I wanted to ask you where was this purple bracelet from and I read your post and I had the answer. I went to her etsy shop and I love her work . I love jewells and I buy a lot and I am just like you , I think we have to make choice

  75. What a gorgeous blog!
After I had my second daughter (many years ago), my husband suprised me with a Cartier trinity bracelet (3 coloured golds with inset diamonds)... that really did jingle, jangle! I sometimes even used it as a rattle to soothe my daughter crying... not recommended, as I lost a diamond!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yes,yes, yes ...a girl can never have too many bangles!
I,too, favor matched cuffs or mixing gold bangles with my summer favs -
    a dozen bamboo bangles.

I've simplified my earrings in recent years and prefer "interesting" rings to big stones.

How do you feel about charm bracelets?

Love your new blue ... .

  77. Beautiful bracelet! How breathtaking! I would wear bracelets all live-long day but inevitably take them off and sadly, can never keep them around long before I lose them. I do wear my gold starfish south sea pearl drops every day religiously b/c I forget I'm wearing them and hence cannot lose them!
