The vernissage took place last week and while I know Biennale is about art, not parties fashion and people....
Charlotte Casiraghi did look pretty cute
as did Naomi Cambell.
I love this yellow on Margherita Missoni
but these two and their gorgeous dresses get my vote.
If there were one party I could crash it would have been M. Francois Pinault's new museum opening at the old customs house, the Punto della Dogana, just across from Piazza San Marco - the inaugural exhibition is entitled, Mapping the Studio: Artists from the Francois Pinault Collection. After a few cocktails, a little networking, some chit chat and people watching I could have motored up the Grand Canal to his Palazzo Grassi to view the remainder of his collection.
I guess my invitation got lost in la France profonde........xv

I LOVE this post Vicki! Gorgeous photos - Charlotte Casiraghi is such a beautiful girl, just like her mother, she has such style and class. Love Margherita Missoni too. Great photo of Venice.....lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Simone :)

ReplyDeleteMy invite fell into the Grand Canal!! And I was supposed to meet Charlotte for lunch too...
Stunning! I miss Venice. It is such a magical city. I can only imagine what it would like to be there during the Biennale. Margherita Missoni gets my vote. She is so beautiful and original.

I could do that, Vicki. Just trail in your footsteps.
ReplyDeleteMy husband was approached about showing at a gallery during this event, but it was not viable. What a lost opportunity. I have to remember that sometimes, the answer is "no."
I see fashion as art as evidenced by the great pieces worn by the women you shared...some artists create on canvas or with film, others by what they create for us to wear and then it is how it is worn, accessorized and carried that makes it great. Loved all the photos!
ReplyDeleteLovely post.....I've been thinking about all your beautiful woman and French attitudes....and thinking I need to change my farmer ways. Do they ever have dirt under their nails? Do French women garden ?
ReplyDeleteVenice is always its own work of art--
ReplyDeleteHope this year I have the occasion to visit the Biennale...
ReplyDeleteVicki, I do wish you could get an invite! How fun it would be to get an up close and personal view from the screen of the French Essence blog!
ReplyDeleteToo bad that you (and we) will just have to contend with a duel French and English life...such suffering! Really though, love the photos and your commentary...I hope the sun shines in both your internal and external environments. <3
Good morning Vicki .... The ladies in the last photo get my vote too. I am beginning to think about what I will wear in October as mother of the groom .... I love the look and feel of the dress on the lovely 'lady of a certain age' in that photo.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love that last white ruffled dress! It's gorgeous, especially against someone with tanned skin (which is not me!). When you figure out how to crash the parties, give me a call and I'll be your henchwoman! lol...
ReplyDeleteWhat an honor to be there~ All the beauties in all the beauty...I LOVE that Charlotte C.! Isn't she so classy?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this event~ I love this post!

So, so fun! I recently read "Seven Days in the Art World" by Sarah Thornton, in which she spends some time at the last Biennale. It sounds (and looks!) incredibly glamorous...
ReplyDeleteI chime in. Fashion is a form of art, not that I myself really wear it (as a home body), and I have fond memories of Venice in the winter.
ReplyDeleteOh Naomi, they are all cute!
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to crash any party in Venice, but this one would definitely be at the top of my list! We honeymooned in Venice, and my heart has never been the same since. I love the magic of the canals....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post!
the last two definitely get my vote as well!
ReplyDeleteive never seen anything like them!
love that yellow missoni-dress, too! do i have to worry about my wardrobe now? i'm going to venice in july and my clothes will be that much more humble, i'm afraid ... btw, a friend who's just been said to take wellies as the water seems to be high and some streets are flooded. how would i work t h a t look then i wonder - sun dress and rubber boots ... ? :)
ReplyDeleteoh, thanks so much for visiting my blog and your comment!
Love the juxtapostion of the red in the first image. A bold shot to a historical setting!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in agreement: the mother daughter duo were best dressed. Both love the ribbon tie (as do I) & its wonderful to see it you in a youthful & more mature way.
i am with you vicki, a great post ,and a super party to crash:
ReplyDeletesalut
Great post Vicki. Maybe you should have just crashed that party!! Love the concept of the show.
ReplyDeleteAlison
I agree with you, the last two are beautiful
ReplyDeleteBeauty everywhere and I can feel that gentle breeze coming off the canal.
ReplyDeleteHello Vicki, lovely blog. I especially like the candles in your header. Thanks for visiting Beach Vintage and leaving a comment. xx
ReplyDeleteMahvelous dahlink! They are all beautiful but especially the last two. So the post over there is as bad as here in the states? C'est la vie!
ReplyDeletemmm... Venice.
ReplyDeleteMargherita Missoni's yellow is the dress for me.Another lovely, girly post.
Charlotte has her mother's eyes.
ReplyDeleteI'd be there in a heartbeat Vicki. One of my favourite artists Ken Yonetani is exhibiting this year as part of the Australian Contingent show that Felicity Fenner's curating in one of the Pavilions. He's a super nice bloke & his work is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
dear vicki....
ReplyDeleteI KNEW I shouldnt have just thrown out that letter addressed to me from VENICE..
I thought it was just another one of those annoying JUNK mail letters.
not realising it was MY PERSONAL

They all look amazing, I love Luisa Beccaria (she's in last pic with her daughter).Actually, she's one of my fave designers.
ReplyDeleteOh what amazing fashion. Such beautiful and elegant pieces! I'm very jealous!
ReplyDeleteVicki, the woman on the left, in the bottom photo, is my favourite. A truly chic, stylish and elegant woman.
ReplyDeleteLove those dresses - especially the one on Naomi Campbell.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful people watching venue, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteJ'adore Venice...but I don't know about this event? It looks something similar to the one in Cannes?
ReplyDelete-marie
I'd like to live in dresses. These are certainly stunning, especially the last two. Sorry about your lost invite!

ReplyDeleteadriana
Hi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteIf they don't know to be more careful with their mail.....I am sure it will show up for next year's event! I love the dress on the more mature lady at the bottom and think the mother-to-be Helen should consider it,perfect!
If you had gone, tell us what you would have worn....there's a fun post for you!
XO
Everyone looks so glamorous! The combination of women in that setting is intoxicating!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree that clothing is art! At least for some. I adore any posts on Venice so thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday to you!
Kirsten
could I crash the party next year with you?
ReplyDeleteI love that yellow number with the head band.
That's it. Banish them from your party list too!
