Spoil yourself...

I am a rose lover.

There is something about roses that make me happy, that make me feel feminine and that make me smile.I love everything about roses; I even forgive the thorns and accept them as a necessary evil.

I am a lover of all things white, so Iceberg roses are very much my thing. They flower well in the south of France and are a popular choice with local gardeners. My Icebergs have given me much joy this year and so it was with much sadness that I cut the last blooms this morning. I will have to prune the bushes right back as soon as the olive harvest is finished and with this in mind I picked every last one.

They have been soaking in my laundry sink so I am going to enjoy arranging them (the best part) and placing them about the house.
Or shall I put them all in my bedroom and really indulge myself?

Spoil yourself with flowers this weekend xv

  1. When we lived in the city, the most gorgeous flowers were plentiful and reasonable and often I sing to my husband -"You don't bring me flowers...." which usually does the trick and he stops at "dahlia's" in Grand Central and brings home the most stunning roses. I love all flowers....

  3. Isn't that funny? I'm thinking, "forget the flowers - look at that sink!" Ha!

Gorgeous roses - I favor white flowers (but love silver roses).

  4. What a beautiful picture. Put them in your bedroom then the whole room will smell wonderful when you go to sleep and more importantly when you wake up in the morning too.

I love roses as well, other than wild flowers they are my absolute favourites. I love how they look, how they smell, the effect of rose products on my skin and I also love the taste!

Surround yourself with them...and then their petals too.

ps. I am so excited, my olive oil just arrived! I ordered some for Holiday gift giving and some for myself! One has to buy pressies for oneself when they are fabulous gifts.

  8. OooooOooo Vicki you are singing my heartsong today! Mmm roses! I have icebergs along one side of my guesthouse, and a Paul's himalayan musk rose growing over my garden shed - another rambler, a Cecile Brunner slated for the pergola at the guesthouse. The smells dancing across my yard next summer are going to be amazing.

Those roses in your photo are absolutely gorgeous -- stunning -- and I vote yes for indulgence - put them right by your bed or on your desk!

    Enjoy your day,
    Isa

  16. It's gardenia season over here. So I have random cups and vases propped around the house, scenting it up.

But nothing matches roses. Roses make my heart beat faster, and my mind drift away. Yours are beautiful.

  18. What a beautiful photograph; I can almost smell their perfume. I was reading this weekend that the divine Sarah Bernhardt used to chew rose petals during love scenes. Enjoy the last of the roses. (And thanks!)

  19. Vicki,
Not only are your roses beautiful, but your sink is exquisite. I too am enjoying the last blooms on my iceberg roses before the winter forces me to cut them back. I have just planted pansies and cabbages in front of my hydrangeas and roses so that I have something beautiful to look at during these next few months.

  22. Oh Vicki, this post has made me very emotional. We left 50 beautiful Icebergs in the front garden of our old house & I miss them dreadfully. Although I think they were probably relieved to see us go as MOTH used to 'gently prune' them every year with his Chainsaw! You could almost hear them screaming!

  27. Incredibly lovely blog you have here! I look forward to reading every post found within it, too.

I am of French descent, but I have never been to France. I do love the language, the culture, the music, and, of course, their history of perfume.
