rue saint- agricole on a rainy, rainy day
Every now and then a girl needs a dose of retail therapy... and Avignon is as good a place as any to browse... so when the sights are seen... these are my favourite streets and the ones that I wander... I won't list all the boutiques because most of them are small and unique and worth a detour... (if you have a copy of FRENCH ESSENCE you will find the addresses in the back)
Rue Saint agricole... everything from olive oil to ballet slippers, from eye glasses to ice cream...
Rue Joseph Vernet... fabulous fashion... vintage and current
Rue Petite Fusterie... antiques and home wares...
And not to be missed...
*Herve Baume (gorgeous garden furniture)
19 rue Petite Fusterie
84000 Avignon
+33 (0) 4 90 86 37 66
*Vox Populi (extraordinary and theatrical creations )
17 rue Thiers
8400 Avignon
+33 (0) 4 90 85 70 25
*Mouret Chapelier (great decor and there since forever)
20 rue des Marchands
84000 Avignon
+33 (0) 4 90 85 39 38
And if you need a break from shopping and a re-fuel...
*La Fouchette ( love this one)
17, rue Racine
84000 Avignon
+33 (0) 4 90 85 20 93
*L'isle Sonnante ( and love this one... especially the decor and the china)
7 rue Racine
84000 Avignon

Vicki,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty street. What are the low things (that look like boat tie-off pieces) that line the street? I love the looks of the shops and the buildings.

I love your words -"a dose of retail therapy"! I´ll remember those. This beautiful photo reminds me of Rue Antibes in Cannes...
ReplyDeleteWas there once about 2 years ago but not nearly for enough time..cannot wait to go back. That picture is magical and makes me want to hop on the next plane. Amazing how a single picture can do that!
ReplyDeleteI wish I were in Avignon, shopping for olive oil and ballet slippers!
ReplyDeleteI remeber Avignon so well and having dinner next to an ancient old church on the pavement! it was an enchanting night in 2006 during the Soccer World cup! Just spent three days there...way way to short so I need to return. thanks for this will pin it to my travel log.
