behind the french scenes...

Styling is what I love to do.... thinking about a scene, sourcing what objects will work, finding the balance between the shapes and then layering them up to make the final vignette... I decide on the mood the image should take and from there gather together a handful of things that might sit well as a group...

Thrown together and waiting for their 'turn' in front of the camera.... I thought these beauties made a pretty cute scene...

Remembering 11.11.11...  and have a happy, safe and laughter filled weekend... xv

  1. And, Vicki, you're very talented in what you like to do... that picture above tell so many stories and invite us to invent much more.

There's something you put on your settings that goes beyond French and so much of you.

    Happy Weeky to you too.

  11. I always think of this little snippet from 'For the Fallen' today:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them

I hope that people do continue to remember!

Beautiful styling and a lovely way of commemorating,

    Jem xXx

  12. Your stylings are beautiful, Vicki. I wish I could do things like this in my house, but I have three very bossy, very curious and very destructive cats. Anything new I put out for decor needs to be covered in a massive cloche or stuck to the surface with Earthquake Putty or it's on the floor in a minute!

  20. Bellissima! Only you would have thought to put the twine around the books.
    Bisous et bon week-end!

PS. Thought of you--just back from working with my honey for some photo shoots just outside of Paris. The makeup artist was awesome and she said uncategorically: YSL Faux Cils Mascara and Bobbi Brown foundation (but for TV she uses Clinique).

  21. Blogging enhances the joy of creating vignettes because one can simply snap several shots (or 50 to 100 in my case) and then share with likeminded blogging friends.

Your bold green print in the background really creates interest in this image and highlights the topper's shape on your bottle-I agree with Sande; it's beautiful.

    Bon week-end,
    Mandy

  33. My name is Florence and I have read your blog for quite a few months now and have always found it very interesting and elegant. I'm French, I live in St Rémy de Provence and together with a friend of mine, we have just started a book club. For the moment, we are only three members, me, my friend, and an Englishman living here too! Maybe you or one of your friends would be interested in joining us as well. If such is the case and for further information, here is my address f.merlenghi@wanadoo.fr

  40. I just did a double take when I clicked on Carla's update. Then as I read it and flicked between the two it all became clear. I love your vision and it gives such a wonderful appreciation of the thought that goes into styling and photographing such beautiful vignettes.
