Styling is what I love to do.... thinking about a scene, sourcing what objects will work, finding the balance between the shapes and then layering them up to make the final vignette... I decide on the mood the image should take and from there gather together a handful of things that might sit well as a group...
Thrown together and waiting for their 'turn' in front of the camera.... I thought these beauties made a pretty cute scene...
Remembering 11.11.11... and have a happy, safe and laughter filled weekend... xv

ReplyDeleteThere's something you put on your settings that goes beyond French and so much of you.
Happy Weeky to you too.

Vicki, absolutely charming. I agree, assembling a vignette is such fun and you are a master @ it.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely weekend!

Such fun and love how you used the colourful backdrop.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
xxx DJ
What a gorgeous composition you have put together, I just love the texture of those gorgeous books tied together with those simple pieces of string - very chic!!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteVignettes are lovely and intriguing.Thank you for this one.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I'm going to get you over to style my house!!! Your taste is so beautiful.
ReplyDelete.. lovely ... remembering those who gave on 11.11.11 ..
ReplyDeleteYou are a master at styling V. I love the yummy light you are getting in this spot. By a window or maybe some lovely French doors? You and Carla are quite a team and I admire you both so much.
ReplyDeleteBon weekend dear,
V
Loving that wallpaper most of all...........divine. Happy weekend Vicki. XO
ReplyDeleteOops..............see it is not wallpaper but something framed. Oh well, it still looks divine! XO
ReplyDeleteI always think of this little snippet from 'For the Fallen' today:
ReplyDeleteThey shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
I hope that people do continue to remember!
Beautiful styling and a lovely way of commemorating,
Jem xXx
Your stylings are beautiful, Vicki. I wish I could do things like this in my house, but I have three very bossy, very curious and very destructive cats. Anything new I put out for decor needs to be covered in a massive cloche or stuck to the surface with Earthquake Putty or it's on the floor in a minute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Vicki. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.

I want this vignette Vicki! I can feel the soft leather and I can scence those musky pages close by.
ReplyDeleteXOXOO
This is charming and you have an extraordinary talent for it. We need you to bring the story telling and fantasy back to the shop windows. I consider it an art form.

Hi Vicki--Yes, we need to remember and learn so that it never happens again. Love the books.........Have a wonderful week-end, Mary
ReplyDeleteIndeed! If you are looking for styling objects, you would have had a ball from where I just came back. Come and see my post about it if you have a moment!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a sheer playground of delight!
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteMerci et bon week-end a vous!
xoxo,

Je vous envoie plein de bisous, bon weekend.
ReplyDeleteyou are
ReplyDeletePURE STYLE my love!!
Bellissima! Only you would have thought to put the twine around the books.
ReplyDeleteBisous et bon week-end!
PS. Thought of you--just back from working with my honey for some photo shoots just outside of Paris. The makeup artist was awesome and she said uncategorically: YSL Faux Cils Mascara and Bobbi Brown foundation (but for TV she uses Clinique).
Blogging enhances the joy of creating vignettes because one can simply snap several shots (or 50 to 100 in my case) and then share with likeminded blogging friends.
ReplyDeleteYour bold green print in the background really creates interest in this image and highlights the topper's shape on your bottle-I agree with Sande; it's beautiful.
Bon week-end,
Mandy

The Universe is essentially creative..and we are co-creatives in it. Every bit of art offers more beauty...and that is wonderful. Esp love the texture...books just make my heart sing! Thank you! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love old books. My problem would be keeping them tied together. I love caressing and even smelling the pages!
ReplyDeleteYou have an incomparable eye for composition, Vicki. Have a lovely weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteIs there anywhere within your home that doesn't have sensational light, Vicki?! The smaller flowers in the backdrop remind me of poppies ~ especially lovely for today. Bon weekend, dear Vicki...

My name is Florence and I have read your blog for quite a few months now and have always found it very interesting and elegant. I'm French, I live in St Rémy de Provence and together with a friend of mine, we have just started a book club. For the moment, we are only three members, me, my friend, and an Englishman living here too! Maybe you or one of your friends would be interested in joining us as well. If such is the case and for further information, here is my address f.merlenghi@wanadoo.fr
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have a talent for it, that is a beautiful little vignette, I like it because its not perfect and you added just the right amounts of color, sparkle, and rustic elegance. The picture definitely holds your attention and I agree it is such fun to play around and create beautiful settings.....

I just did a double take when I clicked on Carla's update. Then as I read it and flicked between the two it all became clear. I love your vision and it gives such a wonderful appreciation of the thought that goes into styling and photographing such beautiful vignettes.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Vicki...simple but with so much impact. J'adore le vert et orange!!!
