The Longchamp bag that I mentioned in the french girl's suitcase is called le pliage. The bag comes in a multitude of colours and a couple of different sizes. Mine is the medium which holds all those things that I can't live without and is khaki green in colour with tan leather handles....it not only holds all but matches everything...
Happy travelling....xv

The Le Pilage is a beautiful bag!
ReplyDeleteI have an Italian made all leather "weekender" - my daughters like to borrow it.
I shall begin saving ... sigh
ReplyDeleteI bought one last year and now I wonder how I ever lived with out it....!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. I looked at the Longchamp website and wondered...now which bag is Vicki's? This will really help a lot. My bet is that Longchamp will have to rename this bag the Vicki Archer bag.
ReplyDeleteI have a little leather clutch from Longchamp that I purchased probably 25 years ago in a men's department in France. It is tailored, but doesn't look the least bit manly. High quality leather and very well made.

I love the pliage bags , they are so easy
ReplyDeleteDe beaux bagages que ceux de chez Longchamp. Bisous
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, thanks for the tip. x
ReplyDeletei've had this same exact bag on my wish list ~ one day it will be in my hands. bisous.
ReplyDeleteI agree Vicki. The Longchamp Pliage line is the best. I am using two on our European trip, both in the taupe color, that goes with everything it seems: the backpack (this one arrived in Europe folded at the bottom of my suitcase, so handy,) and the medium size one you mentioned. ReplyDeleteSo, so classically French! These have now become quite the rage in the States as well.
ReplyDeleteI love the one with the feathers on it -- quite fab!

Hi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your lovely additions to the days. Enjoy your musings
about Australia/London/France as I have girls living in the formers.
Regarding the Longchamp: I love the look, but because the strap
is so short I can not put it on my shoulder. Am I out of it, or is there now
a longer strap. Can't believe I donated mine, what was I thinking. L
ahhh Longchamp Pliage-yes!xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteI use mine as a camera bag. I bought the short strap which was my first mistake, not even sure they had the longer strap then (they probably did but I was rushing at the airport) but they are handy. XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo! I had a chance to get one the other day but passed it! I may have to return to it/ : )

ReplyDeletehave you seen this? it shows the longer staps, for the rest, I think it is a pretty funny video !
It is so funny that you should mention your pliage bag - I was only today looking for a replacement since mine - black with tan leather and also medium - is finally showing wear and tear after more years than I can recall.
ReplyDeleteIt is the perfect bag - travels through 4 seasons and holds everything (amazingly) without being too large and always feels smart.
Love your blog~
Oh I want to be seated on that train.

Vicki I subscribe to the idea of one bag travelling as well. We've done several extended trips to the UK, USA and Europe with just carry on luggage, and the feeling of just whisking off the front of the plane, through customs and into a waiting car, is worth the minor inconvenience of not having a certain shirt or pair of shoes. I tend to take a cashmere cape rather than a coat, and as we're usually there in the cooler weather, cute little boots over Converse (women of my age should never be seen in Converse anyway!), but other than that my list is very similar. I've long since accepted that whatever I may lack can easily be purchased at my destination, and mailed home if space in my luggage is tight. We always purchase basic toiletries on arrival and discard them on departure too, which saves valuable space and difficulty with the contents of our carry-on bags. Once you've done it this way, there's no turning back! And it's great training for our daughter, who certainly won't be travelling at the front of the plane when she grows up and will be relegated to travelling as a backpacker!
ReplyDeleteOh...sorry...and my preferred bag is an Oroton Overnight bag. A gift from my sons. The Longchamp is eminently practical though I must say.
ReplyDeleteI love Longchamp. It is understated elegance.
ReplyDeleteKnave to have one of these when traveling. I too have a multitude of items I can't live without when traveling

Le pliage is such a classic. It is quite popular here in Montreal. I have had my seafoam green one for many, many years and unfortunately it is now worn out and needs to be replaced. Now it's just a question of what colour to choose...?
ReplyDeleteI think you've pretty much summed up the list! Bags are my favorite and I love that you compare them to a guys love of cars! I can never seem to find the perfect one but that seems to be ok with me because it always leads to more to try!
