the french chanteuse...amélie-les-crayons...

Do you know Amélie-les-crayons and her sweet music? Typically French in that her lyrics are sentimental, emotional and heartfelt... her sound is gentle and easy to hum along with...She started her career as a solo pianist/singer in Lyon and has gone from strength to strength becoming a favourite on French itunes...She now travels all over France and Switzerland with her band performing her own brand of magic...

Her albums, Le Chant des CoquelicotsEt Pourqui les Crayons and La Porte Plume are available  here or from the itunes store........One of her cuter clips.....xv

  5. Hi Vicki,
I discovered your blog a few days ago. In the past almost-two years I've faced many challenges and awakenings. And, in the past few days, when I wake up and start the day reviewing French Essence, I am finding an important mirror that reminds me in a beautiful way of my own 'essence.'

    Grande Merci!

  14. What a beautiful song! I shared it with a friend and he translated part of it for me...

Et sous nos ventres ronds sera-t-on les filles de nos mères?
Qui menaient tout de front de manière exemplaire...

And in our own round bellies, shall there be girls like our mothers?
Who led, from the the front, in such an exemplary manner

    Here is another great line:

Dans les mains de nos mères
y'a des lignes et des histoires,
qui pour nous restent un mystère,
    même si on voudrait savoir...

On the hands of our mothers
There are lines, there are stories,
Which for us remain a mystery...
Even if we wanted to know...

  15. That's so lovely. As a good friend of mine says 'No-one cares about actually UNDERSTANDING French. It just sounds so lilting and lyrical, it doesn't even matter what it MEANS." Beautiful.
