I know that time does not really stand still and I do know that we can't turn back time but in my garden you can cheat a little. If you sit for a while, wander for a time, read a book or daydream away it will always be 10 minutes before 2.00 by my clock. This French 'beauty' never changes - her hands are forever poised in the same position, promising a long lazy afternoon ahead.
To loose track of time this weekend - that's my plan, xv.
That clock is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThey say that a stopped clock is always right twice a day!!... isn't it lovely not having to know what the time is!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Vicki !
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a perfect plan....
ReplyDeleteOh Vicki what a wonderful looking clock. If only time could stand still like that...just for a while.
ReplyDeleteAlison
What a great plan, have a great week-end!
ReplyDeleteSimone :)
PS The clock is just gorgeous!

What a great clock and a great plan for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great looking clock and somehow it reminds me of Secret Garden. Don't know why, I don't think they had clocks in the secret garden...
ReplyDeleteNow I know the problem in my garden! We put a sundial in our garden so we know the daylight is slipping away. I need to get a lovely clock instead!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your discussions of the french woman. It got met thinking about so many things and manicures were amongst them. (Americans are fond of acrylic nails and I find the a bit obnoxious). Back to the inspirational thoughts - your post was the inspiration for taking the former homeless ladies out for a manicure!!! Thank you for the great posts.
I like your plan, Vicki. Unfortunately I will be so busy with ballet rehearsals, violin ensemble and ballet performance this weekend with the children, I will have to keep track of time all weekend.
ReplyDeleteLosing track of time is my specialty. I don't even need a clock that remains just minutes before 2.
ReplyDeleteI used to get in trouble all the time. My mom would ask me where my head was, but it would have been too long of an answer. I daydream or get focused on what I'm doing and hours could pass without my knowing.
I like this habit of mine. It helps me be in the moment and enjoy if fully and with brilliant gusto!
By the way, thank you for visiting my blog. I really appreciate it. I feel so honored.
One day, I'm going to visit France. I'll have to consult you and make sure I don't miss local gems.
Thank you and have a stupendous time losing track of time and spending a lazy afternoon! How delicious!
A lovely garden ornament Vicki. I hop time will stand still for even a while this weekend.
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of clock!!
ReplyDeleteTimeless... passe un bon week-end Vicki.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea...to lose oneself and lose track of time...having a clock that keeps you forever at 10 to 2...like having a secret garden all of your own!
ReplyDeletei am loving that image !
ReplyDeletei will try it my dear.
i mean , lose track of time (ONLY)
on the weekend.

ReplyDeleteA weekend of losing track of time. Excellent plan!
ReplyDeleteAnd such a pretty reminder, in your old garden clock. Always promising a long lazy afternoon ahead.

Have a lovely weekend. Ax
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, so much charm. And time standing still.... My kind of clock :) Have a beautiful weekend. Kellie
ReplyDeleteVicki, If that is your house in the right column I want you to adopt me.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the house in May Fools, a Malle movie from the early 90s that I like.
Have a great weekend.
You are so clever to figure that out. You must be a deeper thinker than I...I would look at it and think that clock is broken, who can fix it? See, that's why we need you, to make us think nicer, deeper thoughts! You aren't out there at 2am still are you?
ReplyDeletesounds good to me...but i'd rather have it say 10 till 5 ...that way i can have my wine...

good idea
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, Stopping the clock today, just for a little while sounds like a wonderful idea...stop the clock at the moment of perfection--just for a day or two--I just sent my youngest off (again) to find fame and fortune (after having him at home for a year to heal)--you pick them up, dust them off, apply potions and bandaids, feed them well, set them on their feet so that they can try their wings again. Motherhood is bittersweet at times. I think I will trim my roses today after moving into my new location. Have a wonderful week-end. Thanks for your daily reminders to be grateful for everything.
ReplyDeleteSomeone once told me that watches and clocks are always at ten minutes to two in advertisements because they look like they are smiling.
ReplyDeleteYour clock face certainly looks happy in your garden.
I'm sure I would be as well.
Happy weekend, Vicki.

I so enjoyed your blog. I've been feeling down, first time in my life actually, and your blog was a perfect pick-me- up. I am reminded of the beauty of life and women. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteA timeless garden -- the perfect weekend pleasure. The lengthening of shadows and the growling of my stomach is the only timekeeper I need in the garden.
ReplyDeleteYou had posted on my blog months ago but I just now checked in. Seeing your blog humbles me that you appreciated my art.
ReplyDeleteI have been in a funk like I've never experienced before and your blog on French Women, actually single handedly, pulled me out and brought me back to life.
I forgot how I love all things beautiful. Thank you so much. I will be a fan always.
That's a great clock. Perfect on the stone!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous clock and I love how it gives permission to just relax. No stress, no worries, no deadlines. Perfect for a garden!
ReplyDeleteI hope your weekend is everything you want it to be!
We have drizzly rain today. Great book and nap day!
xo Isa
A wonderful plan it is ....
ReplyDeleteVicki,
ReplyDeleteI always say... if only we could save time in a bottle.. Time amazes me, it seems like it never moves, yet at the same time, it is swirling around so fast... Thank you for the great images, thoughts & post! I love your soulful gifts to us all!

And two o'clock is my favourite hour of the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect hour for the clock to be stuck - that hour when one would look up and think that it was time to get ready for some evening duty. I always like to say to my husband on his day off, 'Well, I guess it's time for you to get ready for work," just to hear him say, "I don't have to work today." Hope it's dreamy.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Vicki, I want that clock, and want to lose time this weekend as well! Bon week-end mon ami.

What a great idea! I'm always looking for ways to play with time as I too often feel like a 'time victim' so love the idea of just letting it go. Je suis avec vous! I've just changed my broken Venice clock to read "Forever 10 to 2!"
ReplyDeleteThanks and Bon Weekend!
Kirsten

ReplyDeleteI love your idea of losing track of time Vicki, I am going to do my best to follow your lead this weekend! Talk of your garden reminds me of the garden I left behind in Australia and how much I miss losing myself amongst my lavender and roses (and weeds). Thanks for the memories and have a timeless weekend... Heidi

ReplyDeleteI love a promising thing and it looks like you know just how to create that. I admire how you do that for yourself.

Hello Vicki,
ReplyDeleteApropos your clock, I recently learned that clock sellers nearly always use the time 10 to 2 or 10 past 2 when displaying timepieces because it is the most open and friendly view of the face!
