I am still like a child when a parcel arrives at the door... I don't know what it is about brown paper and cardboard packages but they excite me. I even skip a beat with an Amazon box... call me silly, but I do... perhaps it's the the thought of the unexpected or the pleasure in knowing that something you are looking forward to has arrived.
I was very spoilt recently when I opened up one such brown paper package to find the most beautiful coffee table book. I felt as if it were my birthday, so delighted was I by this gorgeous gift. Segreto: Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors, by Leslie Sinclair, is a peak into the world of interiors but through the eyes of a decorative painter... The book is one visual treat after another and through her text Leslie explains the way that decorative finishes can enhance a home and make it unique. On first view I could not turn the pages fast enough - I wanted to see every home and every room that Leslie and her team of artisans have worked in... Since that initial look I have been savouring every image and enjoying every detail...
It is wonderful... xv

ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love receiving mysterious gifts?
Hi Vicki, I was lucky enough to get the book as well and it is amazing, talk about a delight on every page! Its like the gift that keeps on giving.....I have way too many books that tease you with the cover or first few pages only to be a letdown once you open them up, this one cover to back is a joy, I so agree.
ReplyDeleteI am like you....get all giddy when I see brown boxes waiting and lately I have piles and piles of brown boxes :)
The cover alone has me sold! Thanks for informing us about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise for me that you posted something so beautiful about my book!! Thank you so much and hope you enjoy it!! xo Leslie
ReplyDeleteOh.
ReplyDeleteIf that first photo is an accurate representation of the whole book..... well, how fast can I get to the bookshop??
There is nothing nicer than a parcel arriving at the front door....unfortunately, our children, who now have their own houses, still have some of their parcels delivered to our house as I am in more than they are !! I get so excited that there is a parcel, only to find that it's not for me !! Luckily, I still get my fair share !!
ReplyDeleteThat looks a beautiful book Vicki. I must investigate. XXXX
Vicki, I got this book too, and love it! Beautiful, inspiring images throughout!
ReplyDeleteI got this book too---recommended from another blog...The Enchanted Home, maybe? Anyway, it totally lives up to the cover, and has inspiring images throughout---I've already taken some of the concepts for client projects! These are the types of books you would never hear about except for blogs like yours---thanks once again for such great information---btw, am currently wearing my Repettos ballet flats which I am now addicted to, thanks to you! lol...have a great weekend!
