hugo... it's not just for children...

Have you seen Hugo?

Anything that is about Paris gets me in... even a 'children's' movie... Normally I steer clear of the 3D or the animated or the holiday movie madness... but Hugo is different... very different...

Directed by Martin Scorsese, it is a story about the wonders of cinema and I think it is one of my most favourite movies in a long time. If you haven't seen it... you must... you will be mesmerised, enchanted and entertained for two hours without a blink. The film, based on the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is set in 1930's Paris... the backdrops and the cinematography are superb... the story adorable...

    Our family has the tradition of going to see a movie on Christmas eve and this year we saw Hugo. It was a magical film and perfect for the occasion. The movie is one of the best that I've seen in a long time.

    I loved this sweet, beautifully filmed movie... I watched it on my apple TV and never got to see the ending as our network went down... What happened?

    Oh, when the movie came out, my young son, well he is 12, andI saw it twice. We are so enchanted. I raved about it on my blog, for it is one of the most magical films I have seen in years! The book was already incredible. My son devoured it, when it was first published. I agree wholeheartedly, it's for all who are young at heart and love not only a great story, but one about movies as well!

    Agree with you Vicki, this movie is totally enchanting and quite magical !
    Took my three grandchildren, including the youngest, who is a Hugo and we were all mesmerised from the opening scenes.

    My 9 year old grand daughter, Sophia, had read the book and was delighted with the movie version which is always a good sign.

    Scorsese is sooo clever and a true movie maker.

    The children, Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley brought their characters to life and even the animatron managed to convince me it had feelings.

    I agree with Jeanne--I can't believe that I didn't see this at the cinema! Looking forward to it though as I am a huge Scorcese/Schoonmaker fan...

    Wondering if you ever saw "The Artist"? I was so crazy for that...

    Saw it in 3D after the Academy Awards this year, and decided afterwards that, to be fair, Hugo should have won over The Artist for best movie (I would still give Dujardin Best Actor, though.) It was a magical experience and my 12-year old was mesmerized. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

    My kid dragged me to see it and it was fabulous. I was mesmerized through and through. I wasn't quite paying attention to the story because the visuals were so breathtaking.

    I, too, loved this film. But I urge your readers to see it in 3D if possible. I generally don't care for 3D movies but Hugo is considered to be the best 3D film ever made and I certainly concur. It is simply magical. Scorecese said that he wanted to make a film his grandchildren could see. They appear in the film as well. (I think they are the children having tea in the train station with their mother)

    I loved this movie so much. It didn't feel like a childs film at all. It felt like my kids were watching a movie I picked (well, I did pick it)!

    I've not seen this one but after your review I definitely will. I'd love to see it in 3D as well. We saw Jane Birkin sing in Sydney last night, Vicki. The audience were on their feet at the finale. She was incredible. xx

    Absolutely agree I watch Hugo a week ago and to be honest I was a bit prejudiced but it is definitely incredible and not for kids only for sure. Greets check out report london
