Friday afternoon almost qualifies as the weekend doesn't it? I thought so too....The temperatures are blazing in my corner of Provence so swimming and reading are the first ideas that come to mind for the weekend. I have just started Corine Gantz's Hidden in Paris and I can tell already that this is the perfect read for this weekend. The book is set in my favourite city in the world...every street name brings a little smile to my face...and the storyline is one of those that we girls just can't put down...
'In a tale of friendship, self-discovery and love, three women running away from their lives become unlikely friends in a beautiful house in the heart of Paris...'
Corine writes the highly entertaining blog, Hidden in France where she uses her particular brand of humour to meditate on relationships, food, decor and all things French....

Perfect Vicki! I just finished a book last night which was of a more serious nature so I am on the hunt for something lighter and more entertaining. I am zipping through books and itune movies these days, our weather has been so perfect (no humidity), just sunshine and relaxing. Hope you have a most wonderful weekend. Much love and many hugs. XO
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you for the recommendation! I'm almost through the last of my stack of books, and I hate hate hate not having something on tap to read next.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds like Heaven. And yes, Friday afternoon so counts as weekend.

Too funny Vicki! I recently downloaded this book onto my iPad for the trip from the UK to NZ. I really enjoyed it and wrote to Corinne to tell her so. She wrote a lovely note back. A fun read, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnother one that you might enjoy is A Recipe for Life by Nicky Pellegrino. I listened to the Audio CD version...it was perfect for those frustrating moments stuck in London traffic. A nice way to escape to Italy...
Best wishes for a lovely weekend...

ReplyDeleteAh, the book and the weekend in provence sound like heaven. I am guilty of having an untouched pile of summer reading but am tempted to put it aside and dash out to pick that book up--sounds so perfect for the weekend! Wishing you a lovely long weekend Vicki!

p.s. Of course you're a long time BV fan, that makes so much sense! I too have always loved the brand but boycotted it for awhile after I accidentally spilled salad dressing on a lady's BV tote during my first {and only} stint as a waitress when I was just out of school. So traumatic--she was screaming and I locked myself in the bathroom. But now I have gotten over it and can enjoy the brand again :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so lovely. I am a new follower.

I recently read this book on your recommendation and thought it was completely charming. I like a cast of characters who aren't always so perfect.
