Egoiste is a French magazine that could rightfully be called the most exclusive and high end magazine of all magazines. So exclusive that it comes out spasmodically at the editor, Nicole Wisniak's want. First published in 1977, there is nothing regular or mainstream about Egoiste, this latest and sixteenth issue featuring Keira Knightley on the cover is out five years after the last. A two volume masterpiece of black and white photography, with various articles of interest, it is well worth the 35 euro price tag. They are available to buy in Paris at various bookshops and news stands or in London at John Sandoe books. In the US there are some copies on Amazon.
It is more than a magazine, it is a collectible and one well worth gracing any coffee table....If Paris is on your agenda in the next little while then Egoiste is something well worth picking up.....As for the back issues...that's what I'm hunting....xv

Hi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Egoiste and think that I saw the first copy when I worked in Mayfair in London, although I don't really remember what was in it. It sounds as if it has a lot of content and, if you have to wait 5 years for the next copy , 35 Euros isn't really as extreme as it sounds.
Although not the biggest fan of Keira Knightley, I love that front cover and I am also a massive fan of black and white photography so, I think that I would really enjoy Egoiste. If I ever see any back issues on my travels, I will snap them up and post them straight to you !!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment over at my blog. Have a lovely week Vicki. XXXX
How exciting. I have never heard of this magazine - shall certainly investigate. Love the cover!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! I've never heard of this magazine but how fun to know this exists. And Keira Knightley...gorgeous always.

ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, Keira Knightley is gorgeous---but those wolf hounds---I think Jones has found his new best friends. I hope that you are having a fantastic summer. thanks. Mary
ReplyDeleteWell if you recommend, I will get one + I have heard of it when I was in UK but haven't seen it in US. Love that cover! Thank you for the tip. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful to work on something like that - on your own schedule, at your own inspiration, with your own content - and have longing for it? Wish I were in Paris...I'd get a copy (and do lots of other wonderful things, too!)
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of this magazine, but so interesting that the last issue was 5 years ago!!
ReplyDeleteVicki- I love your daily click photos!
fondly,
joan
Bonjour from Canada Vicki!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of Visionaire and I adore publications that are actually 'art volumes'. Little works of art to treasure. Love this and I had never heard of it! Merci! PFXO
Not sure if I have heard of it but now I am curious! I have to search. : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice reason to hop on a plane and had for Paris!

ReplyDeleteI had a serious magazine addiction several years ago...it amazed me how much money I was spending!
I now try to limit myself to 6 every month!
mmmmm the exclusivity is totally selling me... plus i like the idea of the editor doing whatever she wants.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cover! Will have to look for this magazine when in Paris in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, No, I have not heard of this magazine. But it looks fabulous, I love black and white photography...wonder where I can buy in Australia? Now, that may be difficult! To Amazon I go...have a great week, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI have to confess: I love the dogs :)

ReplyDeleteSounds worth waiting for to me!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, a friend of mine in Beaucaire has back issues of Egoiste if you are interested....I'll let him know!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful, Vicki. And I like that it walks to the beat of its own drummer...
ReplyDeleteThis is worth the Euros...especially since it was recommended by you. I will definitely search for it. Amazing that I bought three original issues of 'Flair' for 7.00usd each! I know. Crazy, huh?

Hi Viki, Im in Australia, what would you charge me to post me a copy? Amazon seemed ridiculous. I think the exchange rate for 35 Euro is about $46 Aussie dollars plus postage... let me know Im a budding photographer and would benefit greatly xx Corrina.
ReplyDeletei havent heard of this magazine before but this looks fabulous. it has great class to it - you can just tell by the cover.
ReplyDeletei must refer this magazine to my friend and her mum as paris is on their agenda for next month.
