Are you a fan of the 'blue and white'? I often think it is a signature of classical English style decoration yet these days blue and white is likely to pop up in many different interiors. The 'blue and white' seems to suit both formal and informal decors, whether it be urns, vases or bowls. I prefer this porcelain massed in groups or displayed in an armoire...like so many things, I think the 'blue and white' works on that principal of more is better....
The beauty of collecting something you love is that the intrigue starts with the search, the joy continues with the find and the fun never stops.

Dear Vicki,
ReplyDeleteYet another thing we share in common....
Timeless and versatile ~ I have a couple of blue and white ginger jars and I love them no matter where I put them. As it's not yet a collection, simply a mismatched pair, I usually add a 3rd element or a grouping between them and pretty much anything goes!
ReplyDeleteI have only recently gone back to blue and white after growing up with Mum's obsession for the colour combination! I think I always loved it - just needed a break. I totally agree with the 'more is better' principle. I currently have one forlorn vase and one gorgeous biscuit tin, but they are desperate for company.

Love blue and white ... I am very mad for Staffordshire transferware, charmed by the patterns ... but also love Isis as well, and visited Deborah Sears at her base in Oxford .. she makes such beautiful pieces ... just bought some wonderful Caspari blue & white toile paper napkins for a friend who also shares the thrill. Your picture is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love blue and white china, too. I love roses, too. Beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteWith a mum who has a huge collection of vintage blue and white pieces, and quite a few myself, and paired with the fact that many of my paintings feature blue and white china, I guess it's fair to say that I'm a fan! Love your photo, just gorgeous. And coincidentally, today I blogged about b&w too - my recent thrift store find, and latest artwork. Must be on the same wavelength :) K x
ReplyDeleteI am in love with blue and white too, as my collection on a dresser in my kitchen expands on a weekly basis. I can't resist it when I scour the op shops and markets. Your collection is lovely Vicki, I love how you have displayed it. xx jeanette
