Paris is one of those cities.
It is one of those cities that never becomes boring or overly familiar - Paris always pleases. She might not necessarily aim to please, but please me she does. She tempts, she teases, sometimes she scolds but more often than not she enchants. I am spoilt: Paris is an easy train trip away. I should make an effort to visit Paris more often but sometimes the wonders closest on our doorway are the places we neglect. I often reflect about Australia in this way - when I lived there I didn't venture far enough and now that I am so far away I don't have the chance...
In Paris I love to take pics of the everyday because the everyday in Paris is just not...everyday....xv

very true what you say, I agree wholeheartedly on the point of Paris never becoming boring or over familiar as well as on the point of neglecting the delights closest to our doorway..
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head re: Paris although probably best to view every spot we are this way imagine what we could see around each corner if we look just a little harder!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Paris is so beautiful. Id love to go there someday.
ReplyDeleteI agree Vicki. I've only been to Paris twice, but both times I was sooo pleased! And I hope to go back some day. :)
ReplyDeleteParis is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, always charming, always surprising, sometimes a little bit exasperating, but still enchanting and magnificent....and I don´t say it only because I live here :) I truly love this city!

I wish I were there, now.
ReplyDeleteSo true about Paris, Vicki! Wishing you a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous indeed! Love this place xox
ReplyDeleteI love Paris. My last trip was four years ago with a group of girlfriends. I have been planning a trip back ever since :-). There are still some things on "My Paris" list that I have yet to see. Thanks for sharing. -P
ReplyDeleteYes thats the understatement of the year..the city that always pleases...yes at every turn, with every breath, with every glance, with every word, wtih every bite, at every street corner, at every inch! It is just a truly perfect city. It is truly a treat for every sense and I am truly awaken and alive in a special way when I am there!
ReplyDeleteI find Paris irresistibly narcotic in the way it awakens my every sense. I simply love your posts about Paris!
ReplyDeletehi Vicki, I couldn't have said it better. Your thoughts are absolutely how I feel. I love Paris, can't get enough. The busy bustle of the streets, the lovely shops, the everyday life ventured onto a side street........I feel absolutely free while in Paris, a natural high that lasts until I board my return flight home..........Great Post!

ReplyDeleteHi Vicki--Yes, it seems that everything in Paris becomes magical and sexy. Have a wonderful week-end. Mary
ReplyDeleteI hear you Vicki...it reminds one to appreciate every moment wherever we are...we must!

There's no city in the world that I crave like Paris. And you're right, it's not always an easy place, but it's always perfect in the imperfect way that only Paris has. Wish I could jump on a plane tomorrow and enjoy a Paris spring!

She pleases me as well. Love the everyday shots like this V. I love the kiosks with their little "caps" on top!
ReplyDeleteV
PS, I don't know if I"ve told you that I had coffee with Carla when I was in Paris this past Jan. She's as delightful as I imagined. We missed YOU!

I agree, everyday picture taking must produce some of the best photos of this city that you love. Here in NYC they have been updating our bus stops and newstands, modern and stainless steel. I must say, they do look very nice on the city streets.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Weekend!
Great shot. It's incredible how the mundane in Paris is anything but! Even a loaf of bread or buying the paper is special! Thanks for the pretty reminder.
ReplyDeleteLike lining up for a baguette and having a chat with the baker...
ReplyDeleteThe news agent and kiosk....and the line up must be because people in Paris must exchange some pleasantries before leaving.
I love the culture of Paris...elegant, romantic and historic.
So Beautifully written + divine image. A love affair with Paris..Yes. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteParis is a beautiful city - I am hoping to return there this summer! xxoo
ReplyDeleteSo pretty.. I'd love to walk past news stands like this everyday. I'm sure I'd buy many a magazines!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!

You are so right about Paris! I have the iGoogle weather app on my home page with the weather of Paris always displayed. Even on days when it's cold and cloudy and rainy there, I'd rather be in Paris in bad weather than HERE!
ReplyDeleteI too like to take photos of the ordinary in Paris which can often be the extraordinary. I also love to just sit in a cafe and take it all in. I will be there in 3 weeks and I can't hardly stand the wait!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Paris makes even the most mundane objects and places extra special.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I have an ongoing love affair with Paris, London, Florence and Berlin.....and New York, right in front of my nose! I feels lucky too!
ReplyDeleteSweet details of the not so ordinary life!
paris is simply the best... my girlfriend is going for the first time today and everyone is telling her where to go and i told her...just walk... you will find every step charming and wonderful... get lost... stumble upon an unusual
ReplyDeleteneighborhood... every part of paris is a m a z i n g....
wishing you a very blessed easter friend... xoxo
So enchanting & beautiful....she always delights me too! Have a wonderful Easter Vicki. Ax
ReplyDeleteI will never get over Paris. My heart is still there. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteRight on Vicki - we all need to leave the routine of everyday life & wander further afield occasionally. You have Paris & I have Adelaide as our 'Big Smokes' - as much as I love Adders, I reckon you've got the better deal! Have a wonderful Easter break down on the Mas.

Paris are my dream! i was in Paris in 2007 year in trip. I am little french and want to be in Paris all time. Now i live in Belarus. In my country now are dictatourship.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I loved the news stands in Paris, well everything was so sweet there really, I just adored that place & can't wait to visit again sometime!! I hope you have a great Easter weekend xx
ReplyDeleteI love that line: "the everyday in Paris is just not everyday!" I have never been to Paris, but it's on my itinerary for my next trip to Europe, and I have a feeling that I will never want to leave. I'm such a London girl, but I know I could easily have a lifelong affair with Paris, too. London doesn't have to know, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteI dream one day of visiting Paris
ReplyDeleteWhen my grandaughter was about 2 I bought her a little statue of the Eifel Tower which she loved and I promised her that when she was 10 (thinking that it was so many years away all would be forgotten) but now she is 14 she hasn't forgotten, that I would take her.
Now we are jealous because my dear friend is going this month as is my brother and his wife who are staying 11 days in that lovely city. aaaaaah to dream x
Definitely the cutest newstand I've ever seen!
